Peppercorn Philiosphy
At Peppercorn children are simply encouraged to be. Children have the right to belong in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. Children are treated with care, dignity and respect. Children have the right to access high quality education and care where they are encouraged to play and learn. Learning occurs best through child led exploration of their own ideas and interests; supported by passionate educators who are flexible and responsive to the needs of children.
At Peppercorn families are welcome, valued and included. We aim to nurture a sense of belonging through trusting and respectful relationships between families and the service. We believe honest and reciprocal communication is key in developing and maintaining relationships. We recognise families input as an integral component to shaping children’s learning and the continual development of our service. We celebrate reciprocal relationships with families and communities; this is central to children’s sense of being and belonging within our service.
At Peppercorn our professional and empowered educators are assets to our service. Educators take pride and ownership of the centre and are strong role models instilling core values and skills for life long learning. As advocates for early childhood, we engage in professional development and collaborate with other professionals in order to seek continual improvement; and maintenance in best practice.
At Peppercorn we provide a learning program that is play based and guided by the National Quality Framework. Play spaces are viewed as the third educator and are reflective of children’s interests, engagement and enjoyment within the learning environment. The outdoor environment is inspired by nature with a focus on loose parts and adventure style play. Children discover play through opportunities to explore the world around them; sustainably and with the creativity that is fostered through the provision of loose parts.
At Peppercorn we are active participants within the community. We value and celebrate diversity. We support children’s unique individual journeys in the process of being and becoming who they are. We embrace opportunities to support many community groups and welcome the community into the service.
